the complete deconstruction of an email message BEFORE it reaches the anti-virus
engine. Email server anti-virus vendors are good at scanning for viruses.
Can Your Mail Server’s Anti-Virus Decode MIME Properly?
Email server anti-virus vendors aren’t quite so good at decoding complex MIME
email messages and attachments. Once a message has been properly decoded, it is
then handed off for complete anti-virus scanning.
Since we don’t release the names of the anti-virus scanning engines that Mailprotector
employs (for security reasons) we are free to use some packages that provide superior
anti-virus protection without factoring “marketing impact” into our
decisions.
